IT helpdesk services for Syracuse and Central New York.

When something breaks, your team does not want a ticket number and a national hold queue. They want a person who picks up, takes over the screen, fixes the thing, and explains what happened in plain English. That is what an IT helpdesk is supposed to be, and it is what Express IT Solutions has run for Central New York businesses since 2005. Every town we cover is on the service areas page, with the distance from our door to each.

Our helpdesk works by phone, email and remote session, backed by on site visits across Upstate New York from our offices in Fayetteville and downtown Syracuse. You can have it as part of a flat monthly plan, or pay by the hour with no contract at all. Both prices are published, which almost nobody else in this market does.

What our helpdesk handles

Accounts and passwords

Lockouts, resets, new hires who need accounts on day one, and leavers whose access should have been cut off yesterday. The unglamorous work that eats an office manager’s morning.

Email and Microsoft 365

Mail that stopped flowing, mailboxes that need setting up, OneDrive and Teams questions, and licensing that quietly costs more than it should. We manage Microsoft 365 for clients every day, so the fix rarely starts with “have you tried turning it off”.

Devices, printers and software

Slow machines, update failures, software errors, and the office printer that everyone has learned to fear. If it plugs in and your business depends on it, it is helpdesk work.

Security scares

The email that looks wrong, the pop-up that will not close, the “I think I just clicked something bad” call. We take those calls seriously and quickly, and where a scare exposes a real gap, our cybersecurity services close it properly.

Network and connection problems

Wi-Fi drops, VPN trouble and internet outages get first response at the helpdesk. Where the cause is the network itself, cabling, switching, access points, it moves to our network support work, same company, no handoff between vendors.

When remote is not enough

Some problems need hands on hardware. We dispatch on site anywhere in Upstate New York, and where travel adds cost you are told the figure up front, before the visit is booked, not on the invoice afterwards.

How you reach the helpdesk

Three ways, pick whichever suits the moment:

There is also a real door: 511 East Genesee St Suite 8A, Fayetteville NY 13066, if you would rather bring the machine to us. Every fix ends the same way, with an explanation of what happened in plain English, so the same problem is less likely to come back.

Helpdesk on a plan, or by the hour

Two honest paths, both with the price printed where you can see it.

On a managed plan

Helpdesk support is built into our managed IT services, alongside monitoring, patching, security and backup, for a flat published per seat fee of $65, $80 or $99 a month depending on the package. If your team calls for help most months, this is the cheaper path, and the plan includes the prevention work that makes the calls rarer. Full details on the MSP business packages page.

Pay as you go

No contract, no monthly minimum. Business remote support is $199 an hour, billed in 30 minute increments, so a twenty minute fix bills as half an hour, not a full one. On site is $219 an hour. The whole rate card is public on our pay as you go page.

Which is right for you? The honest answer from our own pricing page: if you call a few times a year, hourly is genuinely fine. If you call most months, a per seat plan usually costs less and adds the monitoring and patching that hourly work never covers.

A local helpdesk, not a national queue

Big helpdesk vendors answer from anywhere and escalate to nobody. Ours works differently because the same local company does everything: the person who answers your call works for the company that installed your network, manages your security and can drive to your office. Nothing gets lost between vendors, because there is only one.

We have been doing this from the same town since 2005, first as Express Computer Service, now as Express IT Solutions. Twenty one years in, we hold 4.9 stars from 154 reviews. And because one company covers business IT projects, security, software and AI as well as support, the helpdesk is a front door to a much deeper bench, including the team that builds and runs our AI systems in production.

Helpdesk questions, answered straight

What does an IT helpdesk service include?

Day to day support for your people and their tools: accounts and passwords, email and Microsoft 365, devices, printers, software errors, security scares and connection problems, handled by phone, email or remote session, with on site dispatch when hardware needs hands. On our managed plans it also includes the monitoring and patching that prevents many of those calls.

Is helpdesk included in your managed IT plans?

Yes. Every managed IT package includes helpdesk support along with monitoring, patching, security and backup, at a flat published per seat price of $65, $80 or $99 a month depending on the package. The inclusions are confirmed in writing before you sign anything.

Can we use your helpdesk without a monthly contract?

Yes. Pay as you go support is $199 an hour remote and $219 an hour on site, billed in 30 minute increments, with no contract and no monthly minimum. Plenty of businesses start this way and move to a plan once they see how often they actually call.

Do you offer after hours helpdesk support?

Work outside normal hours is agreed with you before it is booked, on the same free call that scopes the job, so you get a number rather than a surprise. Separately, the 24/7 security operation center monitoring on our business plans is automated and runs continuously; that is a plan inclusion, not a staffed phone line.

What happens when a problem cannot be fixed remotely?

We come to you. On site service covers all of Upstate New York from our Fayetteville office, and multi office clients are supported at every location. Where a visit is far enough that travel adds cost, you are told the figure up front and it is agreed before the visit is booked.

What is the difference between a helpdesk service and managed IT?

Helpdesk is the reactive half: someone answers and fixes things when your people hit a problem. Managed IT wraps that helpdesk in the proactive half, monitoring, patching, security and backup, for one flat monthly fee. If you only want the phone number, pay as you go covers it. If you want fewer reasons to call, see managed IT services.
