Getting into the city, and what the I-81 work changes about it
The plain route is NY 5, which is the street the office is on. It leaves Fayetteville as East Genesee Street and arrives in Syracuse as Erie Boulevard East, so the simplest description of the trip is that there is one road and no puzzle. The complication is real and it is worth naming rather than pretending it away. The I-81 viaduct project is rebuilding how through traffic moves around and through the city, in phases, over several years. The practical effect on an on site visit is that the quickest approach to a downtown address is not a fixed thing and has not been for a while. So agree the arrival window when you book rather than assuming last year’s drive, and if the work is a cutover where Monday morning has to function, put the traffic into the plan rather than into the apology.
