Three ways to get help

Walk in, we come to you, or we fix it remotely

One phone call sorts out which of the three fits the job in North Syracuse. Whichever it is, the price is in writing before anything is ordered or started.

Walk in

Bring it to the store in Fayetteville

511 East Genesee St, Suite 8A, Monday to Friday, 9 to 6. The store is in Fayetteville, 15.1 road miles by I-81 and NY 5. For North Syracuse a visit or a remote session usually comes first, and the store is the right place for a bench job.

Fixed in a secure remote session

If the machine still starts and can get online, most software faults, email problems and slow machines are handled without anybody driving, and a session starts sooner than a van does.

How remote support works

What does IT work look like on the north side?

The village and the town of Cicero are organised by two roads. US 11 carries the storefronts, the service businesses and the small offices from the village north through the hamlet of Cicero to Brewerton, and NY 31 crosses the town east to west. A business on either road is usually a counter or a small office with a handful of staff, a point of sale or booking system that must not stop, a printer everybody shares and a wireless network that was set up once and never looked at again. That is bread and butter work, and most of it is a visit followed by a remote session, not a project.

North Syracuse village itself is dense for a village: about two square miles, every street residential or main road, with the North Syracuse Central School District running through it. Household calls here are the usual ones, a laptop that will not start, a desktop that has slowed to a crawl, a drive that has started clicking, and they are the jobs we would rather see at the Fayetteville bench than fix on a kitchen table, because the parts are on the shelf there.

The lake changes the north end. Brewerton and Bridgeport sit on Oneida Lake, and a house on the water is often a house with outbuildings, a dock and a long run between the router and the room that needs it. Wireless across distance is a design job, not a bigger router, and the honest first step is somebody standing in the building with a meter.

Who calls from where, and what the first step usually is.
The addressThe usual first step
A storefront or office on US 11 or NY 31A visit to look at the network, then remote for the rest
A house in the villageBring the machine to Fayetteville, or a remote session if it boots
A lake house at Brewerton or BridgeportA site visit for wireless, because distance is the problem
A business out by the airportA written scope before anything is ordered, and a word about site access
A workstation on display in the Express IT store: a monitor, a mechanical keyboard and two desktop towers, with components and accessories on the wall behind.
A workstation on the floor at 511 East Genesee St. The bench is 15 miles from North Syracuse and the downtown office is under 8, so ask which is closer for your job.

Getting to North Syracuse and Cicero, and which office is closer

This is one of the places on this site where our downtown office is plainly the better starting point. From 120 Madison St the village hall on South Bay Road is 7.7 road miles: US 11 out of downtown and then I-81 north. From the Fayetteville office it is 15.1 miles, NY 5 to I-81 and north past the airport, which is still an easy drive but is not the short one. Cicero town hall on Brewerton Road is 11.9 miles from downtown and 15.6 from Fayetteville.

The bench, the parts shelf and the showroom are in Fayetteville, so a machine that needs a part still ends up there. For a North Syracuse household that usually means one of two things: drop it off on the way past, since I-81 and NY 5 make Fayetteville a straightforward run, or let a technician collect it on a visit that was happening anyway. We will tell you which on the phone rather than make you guess.

Syracuse Hancock International Airport sits just south of the village, off I-81 near Mattydale, with parts of it inside the town of Cicero. For a business out there the practical point is access: a yard, a gate and a tenant badge are part of the job, so tell us on the first call who lets a contractor in.

What does it cost?

No figure is published on this page, because the honest number depends on what the work turns out to be. The rates and the plans live on three pages and nowhere else: managed IT pricing, home IT rates, and the flat rate and hourly rate card on the booking page. Read those before you call and the call gets shorter. If a job in North Syracuse turns out not to be worth doing, that is a thing we will say out loud rather than quote for. Asked in North Syracuse

Six questions North Syracuse asks first

Which of your offices is closer to North Syracuse?

Downtown. Our office at 120 Madison St, Suite 1000 in Syracuse is 7.7 road miles from North Syracuse village hall, US 11 and then I-81 north. The Fayetteville office at 511 East Genesee St is 15.1 miles. The bench and the parts are in Fayetteville, so a machine that needs a part still goes there, and we say which route makes sense when you call.

Do you cover Cicero, Brewerton and Bridgeport, or only the village?

All of them. North Syracuse village lies in the towns of Cicero and Clay, and the town of Cicero runs north from the village to Oneida Lake, taking in the hamlet of Cicero on US 11, Brewerton and Bridgeport. Every one of those is well inside 50 miles of Syracuse, which we cover with no questions asked.

We run a shop on US 11. What does a first visit involve?

Looking before quoting. A technician comes to the counter, looks at the machines, the router, the point of sale and how the printer and the internet are connected, and tells you what is actually wrong. You hear a figure before anything is ordered or started. Most shop problems are then handled remotely after that first look.

Can you sort out Wi-Fi at a lake house in Brewerton?

Yes, and it is a site visit rather than a phone fix, because on a lake property the problem is distance: the dock, the garage and the far bedroom are too far from one router. We measure the building, put access points where the signal needs to be and run cable where wireless is the wrong tool.

Can you fix a computer in North Syracuse without a visit?

Often, yes. If the machine still starts and can get online, a secure remote session is usually the fastest route for software faults, email problems, slow machines and most business helpdesk work, and it has no distance limit. When the fault is the hardware, the wiring or the building, a technician comes to your North Syracuse address or you bring the machine to the Fayetteville store.

Do you charge extra to come out to North Syracuse?

No figure is printed on this page, because what a visit involves depends on the work rather than the town. North Syracuse is within 50 miles of Syracuse, which we cover with no questions asked. The published rates sit on the booking page, the home IT pricing page and the managed IT pricing page, and for anything quoted you get the figure in writing before anything is ordered or started.

Either side of the village

North Syracuse sits in two towns, so two of the places on this site are on its doorstep and one more is a short run down I-81.

  • Liverpool. A village in the town of Salina, west of here, worked from the same two offices.
  • Clay. The town that holds the western half of this village and the Micron site, the most populous suburb of Syracuse.
  • Syracuse. The city at the south end of I-81, where our downtown office is 7.7 miles from the village hall.

Every town this office covers is listed on the service areas page, nearest first. What clients say about the work is on the reviews page.

Where are the offices, and how far do you travel?

We work on site across all of Upstate New York, from our offices at 511 East Genesee St in Fayetteville and 120 Madison St, Suite 1000 in downtown Syracuse. Clients who run more than one office are covered at every location, and where a location is far enough that driving does not make sense, that includes travel by air. Travel is planned and agreed with you in advance rather than appearing on an invoice afterwards. Express IT Solutions keeps no offices outside New York State.
